Beginners Stained Glass Tool Kit
(for the copper foil method)
This is the complete kit, containing everything you
will need to start and finish copper foil projects,
except the glass and pattern.
Glass scorer- Fletcher Gold tip Pistol Grip-This
is the scorer most of my students prefer, The pistol
grip does not require as much hand strength,
Fletcher makes a good long lasting tool.
Breaker/Grozer-Leponitt-spring loaded
multipurpose tool.
Running Plier- Leponitt- spring loaded metal
running plier.
Fid-
For burnishing the copper foil, I like the red ones.
Ruler-
cork backed metal ruler for scoring straight lines
Glass marking pen-silver sharpie-for marking on
dark glass.
Foil- 7/32 black backed venture tape.
Solder- Mayco 63-37 is good for copper foil
method.
Seems to have fewer impurities than the
“others”
Soldering Iron-Inland 100 watt pro iron-
Has a good heat retention, and with the
copper foil method you need a good 100 watt
soldering iron. If you want to upgrade to
an ergonomic soldering iron, you'll have to emailme
for a current price.
Temperature
controller (Inland)- If you are using the
copper foil method there are times when a
temperature controller makes work easier. (you don’t want to burn out the adhesive on the foil)
Black Patina- Changes the silver solder to
black.
Foil Shears- Three-bladed shear for cutting out
paper patterns.
Soldering Iron Stand/Sponge-To
hold your soldering iron, and wet sponge for
cleaning the tip of your soldering iron.
Flux- Classique Gel Flux-
low odor, less sputter and spit, less smoke,
make soldering easier.
Glass Cleaner- Oxy Stop- good one step cleaner.
Is very user friendly
Glastar-Diamond
Star- a basics grinder-will
do all the grinding you need for a very very long
time.
Face shield- for the grinder-always protect your
eyes when you are working with glass
Splatter guard- helps contain the mess of
grinding.
