Beginning Fusing

Come join the Hot Glass Craze! We will take you on a journey to explore the fundamentals of fusing. Due to the firing process, all finished projects have to be picked up a day or so after the class is over.

This class is an introduction to the technique of glass fusing. It is intended for the student with no fusing experience.

Kiln safety, operation and setup will be discussed. We will teach you about glass compatibility, safety. Tools and materials are discussed also. This course will introduce you to the behavior of hot glass and will change forever your perception of the medium of glass. Along with the basic fundamentals of fusing, we will explore some of the creative elements such as layering, working with frits,   and using stringers. Each student will create four tiles and a cabochon.

Please wear closed shoes. (Please, no sandals.)

This course is open for those who have had a beginning class l, and would simply like access to the studio for independent projects. Students will have to procure their own supplies, which are available for sale in the studio. Call to schedule your independent study.
